Stilt walking is known around the world. It has entertained many for decades. While it has been known for entertainment purposes, stilt walking can be used for many conventional things. Other uses for stilts over the years have included transportation, use for painters, plasterers, and sporting events. Below you will find several types of stilts and some of their uses:

Hand-Held Stilts- These types of stilts are used mainly by children but are made of tin cans & String, or wooden legs which have attached handles. They are not attached to the person wearing them and are often used to teach children stilt walking.

Spring Stilts- These are a newer more modern form of stilt and they are generally used in competition or shows for acrobatics, or long jumping.

Peg Stilts- also known as Chinese Stilts are the most common form. Peg stilts are used in circuses, festivals, carnivals, as well as other events, and generally attract the most attention. Allowing the wearer to have what many call super legs.
